While pursuing two master's degrees in Business and Human Computer Interaction,  Florence Noel  felt a little out of place. "I knew I was going to be weird and even out of place. I knew my decision coming here was right, but that it would be painful." She felt a profound need for more intentional safe spaces for Black women by Black women, spaces that rose to the occasion of our arrival, that encouraged us to be fuller expressions of who we are, that gave us more than they took. Eager to find these spaces, Flo decided to create them and with the help of hundreds of Black women,   Dear Black Women     was born.

gonanas  all started in the UofM freshman dorms.  Annie Slabotsky and Morgan Lerner  were neighbors and quickly bonded over their passion for food, health, and baking. one day, given their mutual love and familial tie to banana bread, they decided to “healthify” the classic treat, messing around in Annie’s kitchen in Birmingham, Mi all day until they nailed the recipe. Their idea was to make something just as delicious as the bread they knew and loved, but much more nutritious, so that other people on campus and beyond campus could have access to healthy on-the-go treats that were just as tasty and satisfying.

Peerstachio   is a peer-to-peer learning community platform that helps improve students' grades by connecting underclassmen with trusted upperclassmen, getting them the academic help they need in a responsive way. In September 2017, the company was founded with the mission of helping students transition into the college environment and sharing educational information as a community. The idea came about from a personal experience that the founder,  Scarlett Ong , faced in her first year of college as an international and first generation college student.

Peerstachio is a peer-to-peer learning community platform that helps improve students' grades by connecting underclassmen with trusted upperclassmen, getting them the academic help they need in a responsive way. In September 2017, the company was founded with the mission of helping students transition into the college environment and sharing educational information as a community. Annie Jeng  and her co-founder Colin started playing music together in the fall of 2016 as graduate students at the University of Michigan, and after a handful of performances decided to take things to the next level.  Back Pocket  finds its musical niche somewhere between pop and classical music, constantly striving to present engaging and thoughtful performances of music old and new. Back Pocket finds great importance in developing new repertoire for their instrumentation, most recently collaborating with composers Ivan Trevino and Jung Yoon Wie.

She fell for science and wound up working for the University of Michigan Hospital researching H. flu and chronic kidney disease before joining the materials science research group at Ford Motor Company. There, she completed a lauded Ross Evening MBA in two and a half years. During the MBA program, Shelly Sahi started Sahi Cosmetics, an eponymous, high-end makeup line for people of every skin color. As CEO, Sahi raised the money and support for her company through Dare to Dream grants, Kickstarter campaigning and various Zell Lurie Institute of Entrepreneurship scholarships. She also won first place at the Michigan Business Challenge 2017 and is the Weiser Family Entrepreneur of the Year.

Originally from Suburban Detroit, Lauren is a lifelong equestrian, lawyer, proud Wolverine and startup nerd. As Founder, she’s thrilled to be able to combine the skills she’s learned in various industries with her passion for riding and the horse industry.

Lauren Garvey founded The TackHack a service and a managed marketplace that makes it simple for riders to buy and sell authentic, high-quality used tack and riding apparel. Originally from Suburban Detroit, Lauren is a lifelong equestrian, lawyer, proud Wolverine and startup nerd. As Founder, she’s thrilled to be able to combine the skills she’s learned in various industries with her passion for riding and the horse industry.

Holly Meyers  is the founder of   Holly Keith Lingerie.   She is an MBA2 at the Ross School of Business and holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Fiber Science & Apparel Design. She previously worked as a Technical Designer for Under Armour, managing Menswear product from design to production. She currently is the founder of Holly Keith Lingerie, a luxury lingerie brand for larger chested women. She is working on the product development for the brand's first bra set, developing a new sizing system to change the way women are currently fit for bras. The brand is looking forward to launching this coming year.

Dough is a personalized education platform that simplifies student loan management from graduation to matriculation aimed at reduced borrowing and default rates. Dough’s Student Loan Assistant provides a transparency step-by-step plan aligned with their in-school borrowing process. Dough’s predictive analytics capability targets default prevention & student retention measures for at-risk students. Dough provides a better student digital experience and automates loan changes to decrease school administrative costs.

Drunk Shrub  was born out of a need.  Sheela Lal , the founder, chose to cut back on her alcohol intake, and quickly felt frustrated by the social norm of keeping a drink in hand. Sheela still wanted to go out with her friends and patron her bartender friends - just without the alcohol. With 5 flavors, Drunk Shrub is building a small following and attempting to build a new culture of inclusive socializing with it.

Kiley Judge  her co-founder are the masterminds behind  Quirk . Quirk crafts small batch, locally made drinking vinegars from quirky fruits. Our refreshing vinegars are made from the freshest, most delicious fruit that would normally be rejected based on their size, shape, or color.

Bothered by various products that used harmful chemicals that damaged her hair, young and ambitious then-18-year-old business student,  Hunter Phelps,  created  Terry Lu Naturals  LLC in 2017. The line is focused on making sure customers have the best hair, skin, and body experiences, while including natural ingredients and Terry Lu Love. Through her natural hair journey, Hunter was excited to learn about all the wonders of organic ingredients on the hair and skin. This inspired her to pass along her knowledge and create products with healthy ingredients to help other
